Dear Parent/Carers,

Welcome to this newsletter.  I hope that you are all well.

The half term has been very exciting for the children.  They have planted and started to grow various flowers, fruit and vegetables including carrots, strawberries and pansies.  We have been watching closely to see how they are growing and learning about changes over time.  The children have also had great fun exploring the new mud kitchen and ‘making’ mud pies, cakes, etc.  We have made good use of the outside area the park and the village where we have explored local shops, looked at letters and learning letter sounds.  The children have also been exploring colour mixing with paint and coloured paddles.

The school leavers who are going to Shaldon Primary School have begun the transition process and are having visits to see the classroom, play areas, cloakroom and toilets.  There will be an opportunity for all parents of children going to Shaldon Primary School to meet Mrs Youd at the Pre-school in the next half term (details to follow).

With the warmer weather now upon us please can you ensure that you have put sun cream on your child before they arrive at Pre-school and if necessary we will reapply at lunchtime.  We do not provide sun cream so please can you ensure that your child has a named bottle of sun cream in with their bag of named spare clothes.  Please can we also ask that you put your child in sensible shoes that support their feet (not sloppy shoes such as flip flops) as we will be getting ready for our sports day with lots of running at the park.  Thank you.

Please can we ask that you do not allow your children to ride their scooters or bikes in the Hall when you are collecting them to take home.

A reminder that the Pre-school will be closed for the General Election on Thursday 8th June 2017.

With regards to us joining Shaldon Primary School Academy I have been asked to pass on this message “Due to a few outstanding issues, the pre-school will now not be joining the Academy in June but on September 1st . If you have any questions please contact Alison on”.

The toddler group will continue to be run by Pre-school until we break up in July.  The Group will start again after half term on Tuesday 13th June and will be run by Nada Salacova.  So please go along and join in the fun.

Please find below a list of dates for your dairy including Sports day and Summer Show.  Next week is half term so enjoy your week with your children and we look forward to seeing you back at Pre-school on Monday 5th June 2017.
